You should monitor the weather days before the actual day of the work as well as the night before and the morning of. Storms can move in overnight unexpectedly and you and your contractor need to be aware of this before giving the go ahead to install. Rescheduling your install due to weather concerns is a good decision. Take no chances.

Roofing materials – on site prior to the removal of the existing shingles is extremely important. Your exact shingle manufacturer, color, and year needs to be verified before any work is started and any specialty items such as power turbines and ridge vents need to be on site so the timeliness of the project is kept on track.

Contact – it is imperative to make sure your contractor has a contact number of someone living in the house that can make decisions or give information. He may need a power or water source or something may happen and he will need to communicate with someone immediately. Situations can arise and immediate communication is very important.

Furniture – we recommend you move or protect any furniture or exterior fixtures that may be in the area of the work. The further out from the edge of the roof the better, or secure inside the garage. Accidents can occur when construction is going on.

Children/Pets – safety is of most importance. Make sure small children are not permitted to play in the yard while the roof is being installed. Roofing material and nails will be on the ground. Children and Pets should be secured from the yard until the final cleanup of the yard and property is performed.
